Author Motuma Kaba, with Editor Tuli Feyisa, has released a new Afan Oromo fiction short-story eBook on Amazon.com’s Kindle – the title of the book is ABJUU. Probably, Motuma Kaba’s 16-page ABJUU is the first Afan Oromo fiction eBook, and uses a revolutionary new way of delivering the much needed Afan Oromo books to readers throughout the world.
In addition to ABJUU, also available on Amazon’s Kindle is a 96-page Afan Oromo poetry ebook, DHAALA – Dilbii Walaloo, by author Mootii Tufaa (with photographer Motuma Kaba).
Check the Gadaa.com Bookstore to get both of the above Kindle ebooks.
Afan Oromo, though it’s one of the top three most spoken languages in Africa, has been suppressed by successive Abyssinian regimes, which have controlled Oromia militarily since the late 19th-century, to prevent the language to grow as one of the top African written languages. It was only in 1991 that it became the official writing and working language of Oromia, the homeland of the Oromo people. With rising costs of printing and distribution paper-books, the eBook approach is said to be what Afan Oromo needs at this point in its long-awaited transformation into a major written language in Africa and the world.
